Mission Statement
John Rock was born on a farm in Lancaster County well over one hundred years ago. He was raised by an Irish Father and German mother. Through Irish humor he was able to smile through tough times while working on the farm. He started his long days as full-time help after he ended the third grade. Unfortunately while working, an accident paralyzed one of his legs.
As the years went on John developed a good living for the family by taking care of the butter, eggs and chicken route. He continued his life with custom butchering, operating an antique shop, and sheering sheep. Even disabled Johns great qualities shined through. He had great integrity, courage, generosity, humor, and was hard working. Starting twenty five years ago a number of Chester County Residents began this fund to honor him and all of his accomplishments.
Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Fund shall be to support the Chester County Co-operative Extension 4-H Program. Within that program, distribution is limited to Sheep Club activities as long as those programs exist. If these programs cease, fund distribution will be allocated to Pennsylvania statewide 4-H sheep programs. Should these programs cease, fund distribution will be applied to Pennsylvania State University programs to improve the quality of the state sheep industry.
