Giving Circle: FRIENDS OF ELIZA (FOE-name tdb)


Giving Circles are an innovative way to make a positive difference in your neighborhood with a group of friends:

o   Build a team

o   Get together to explore local issues and nonprofits meeting local needs

o   Volunteer, give, have fun & make a meaningful difference

The Community Foundation provides a Giving Circle meeting facilitator, nonprofit sector expertise, charitable due diligence training, grantmaking experience, and connections to other Giving Circles.

WHAT IS THE FRIENDS OF ELIZA GIVING CIRCLE?

o   A group of Eliza’s friends who have agreed to pool their charitable dollars, learn about the nonprofit sector, and decide together which charities to support.

WHAT CAN I EXPECT?

o   Increase your community involvement & knowledge about what’s going on in the community

o   Enjoy yourself – have meaningful conversations and contribute wealth, work and wisdom to the community

o   Make a difference in the community where we live, work & play

o   Donate your valuable time and money to vetted charitable causes that are near and dear to your heart & mind

HOW MUCH TIME & MONEY?

o   Four or five 1.5 hour evening meetings, held at Eliza’s

o   A bit of on-line reading between meetings

o   Discuss issues related to philanthropy, such as prioritizing community needs, discerning service niches, comparing quality amongst various nonprofits, determining financial health, discerning leadership quality, and evaluating program and service impact

o   Visit a selected handful of local nonprofits, as agreed upon by the Giving Circle

o   Confidentially donate to the Friends of Eliza Giving Circle Grant making Pool at the Community Foundation ($250-$2,500) as you desire. To donate securely online, just fill out the information below
