ABOUT
Beginning in January 2022, Chester County formed an advisory council which incorporated veterans, spouses, and organizations who would like to make an impact on veterans in the community in need of services. The purpose of the Council shall be to advise, assist and support the Chester County Department of Veterans Affairs in their provision of services to veterans and their families. All members are residents of Chester County and are appointed by the County Commissioners.
COMMUNITY FOUNDATION FUND
The purpose of this fund shall be to make distributions for charitable purposes to non-profit organizations, and other charitable causes as recommended by the fund advisors and approved by the Board of the Chester County Community Foundation. Specifically, monies raised will be used to fund the charitable mission of raising awareness, educating, and providing services to the veterans of Chester County.
PROPOSED EVENTS 2023
WOMEN VETERANS COMMITTEE: LUNCHEON
Provide an open forum for women veterans to speak their minds on the issues they are facing, to include support, awareness, and introduction to organizations that can assist the women veteran initiative.
HOMELESS VETERAN COMMITTEE: CHESTER COUNTY STAND DOWN
Provide much needed services to our “homeless population” to include, but not limited to: hot meal, housing, clothing, underwear, socks, medical services, hygiene items, showers (depending on locations), etc. (This will be the first time ever that Chester County has held a veteran’s stand down.)
AMERICAN LEGION/VFW INITIATIVE
Introduction of organizations to the younger veteran population who are unaware of its existence, assist in membership.
DONATE
All donations will be used to benefit veterans, spouses, and children throughout Chester County. All donations must be submitted directly to the Community Foundation.
