Mission
Our mission is to make a meaningful difference in the lives of medically needy dogs surrendered by commercial breeders and/or “puppy mills” to non-profit animal rescues.
Our Purpose
Daphne came to Camp Pappillon Rescue at 14 weeks old from a commercial breeder, they were unable to sell her because of her eye issue. She had bilateral choristoma of the lower lids and needed surgery that would cost the rescue group about $1700. Alite Rescue Fund is proud to provide funds for unexpected medical costs when they save dogs from Pennsylvania puppy mills.
Many dogs born into “puppy mills” receive little medical care other than state required vaccinations. When they no longer serve a commercial purpose, they are often offered to animal rescues with treatable, yet untreated diseases requiring extensive medical care. The prohibitive cost of this care may preclude rescues from accepting these dogs, many of which are at risk of being euthanized. Our purpose is to support qualifying rescues with funding so that they can accept these dogs and provide needed medical care. Ultimately, our goal is to save as many lives as possible and to bring “a light” back into their eyes.
Who We Are
For many years, each of us has committed ourselves to caring for dogs in transition; some dogs from high volume shelters, some transplanted from different parts of the country, but all of us have opened our hearts to the very special, very shy, often traumatized dogs that are released after years of breeding. All of us have volunteered at rescues and shelters that have graciously embraced these dogs, often at great expense.
We are proud to be able to provide hope for more dogs to thrive in forever homes!
