Chris Fuga hacks his way out of the rough on the 10th hole in Philadelphia Amateur qualifying Tuesday at Llanerch C.C. Fuga, 10 months removed from a bone marrow transplant after being diagonosed with leukemia, fired a 2-under 69 at Llanerch and a 73 at Rolling Green G.C. to finish in a tie for third and qualify for match play.

Phoenixville local, Christopher Fuga, was well known for his enthusiasm and great talent for golf. He has an extremely long list of accomplishments, including his collegiate accomplishments: a top-ten overall in the NCAA regionals; All-Conference squad member and team MVP in the 2012-2013 season; and Honorable Mention for the South Atlantic Conference in the 2013-2014 season. Chris was a proud member of the Overbrook Golf Club and the Phoenixville Country Club, where he formed many friendships and bonds with other members. Chris passed away at age 24 in October, 2015, after a second fight with leukemia. This golf tournament will honor Christopher as his friends and family come out to play his favorite sport and remember an individual who was filled with such life and passion.
