About
As social distancing practices continue to increase in order to mitigate the impact of COVID-19, it has become increasingly difficult for West Chester’s most vulnerable citizens to access necessities such as food. Demand for food has skyrocketed as our senior citizens find themselves shut in and others are increasingly out of work.
During the past weeks, several Borough restaurants and food purveyors have carefully prepared nutritious meals for our seniors in need and delivered the meals to the non-profit facilities serving them. As our restaurants face economic challenges of their own, a more sustainable approach is needed for us to keep providing meals for our residents in need.
The Mayor’s Office, in partnership with the Chester County Community Foundation, has created the “West Chester Community Meal Fund” to collect donations, which will be used to purchase carefully-prepared and nutritious meals from local restauranteurs and food purveyors and deliver them through non-profits to vulnerable seniors and other high-risk members of our community. Seniors who rely on the West Chester Senior Center, other low-income seniors in our community, and those who rely on bagged lunches and dinners prepared by Safe Harbor will be among the many who benefit from your donation.
Your donation will guarantee a warm and welcome meal for our neighbors in need while helping to sustain the Borough’s restaurant community and keep their inventories from going to waste.
Thank you. We are all in this together!
