Dr. John H. Hewlett, III Scholarship Foundation

Mission Statement

The primary purpose of this fund shall be to support the students of Henderson and East High Schools, based

upon need and academic achievement during their first years in college.

Dr. John H. Hewlett, III, was a long-serving Director of Human Resources and a lifelong educator and mentor in the West Chester Area School District.  Throughout his career, Dr. Hewlett created a legacy of caring support for all with whom he worked, students and staff alike. Students furthered their education because he inspired them to achieve and teachers sought additional degrees because he encouraged them. He provided leadership in the growth of educators through mentoring and assisting them in developing an application for all cultures.

In the 1980s a former West Chester Area School District employee created the John H. Hewlett Scholarship Fund. As a result, at least two students from every graduating class have received a scholarship award in Dr. Hewlett’s name. More than 30 scholarships have been awarded to well-deserving seniors at graduation.
