The $1,000 scholarship is awarded annually to a deserving Kennett High School graduating senior, and is paid in annual payments of $250 a year for four years while the student attends a college, university, or training school. Award winners are selected by and have worked with the Kennett Intervention Team while at Kennett High School, and have an interest in pursuing a career dedicated to helping others.
The student’s name is revealed and announced for the first time during the Kennett High School graduation ceremony, and the scholarship checks are presented to the student at Longwood Rotary Club meetings. It is part of the intent of the scholarship to give public recognition at the graduation to the student and follow up meetings with the Rotary Club, so the student experiences esteem building moments of achievement with family, peers, and supporters present.
