About Nick

Always with a smile, Nick enjoyed singing in the choirs at Bishop Shanahan High School, playing in the band and taking on many roles in the school’s theatre productions. Nick loved performing and music and taught himself to play the guitar and the French horn.

During his junior year in high school, Nick was diagnosed with a rare form of pancreatic cancer. Despite living with the cancer for several years, Nick had an extremely positive “let’s get on with living” attitude.  Nick passed away in 2010 at the age of 20.

The Nick Smiles on the Fine Arts Foundation has been established to make charitable donations in Nick’s memory, and to celebrate his legacy forever.  The Foundation will provide charitable funding to the Fine Arts Program at Bishop Shanahan High School, Downingtown, PA to give the broadest range of opportunities for its students to achieve success in the Fine Arts.
