May 16, 2019

The Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) announces a newly conceived gift of 5% of Lael Stables’ winnings for 2019.

The gift is given to increase the funding for students wishing for an education in Equine Medicine but in need of scholarship support.  The foundation also gives money to equine research. TERF’s vision and mission is bettering the life of the Thoroughbred. TERF was founded in 2013 – 5 years ago, by Herb and Ellen Moelis. Kathleen Anderson, DVM, and James Orsini, DVM, are co-chairs of TERF. Scott Palmer, VMD, Margaret Duprey, Anita Motion, Toni Orsini, Josh Pons, Lucy Zungailia, Wendy Moon, and Roy and Gretchen Jackson are current TERF board members.

Roy and Gretchen Founded Lael Stables in 1977. It has had its share of notable winners such as Ageless, Divining Rod, Chalon and Hawksmoor. However, the beloved Barbaro was their star.

Gretchen and Roy said: “We have always been interested and caring about the horses’ welfare. TERF gives us a doorway into the future to provide funding to support education for future veterinarians and technicians and the opportunity to rid the equine world of devastating diseases and prevent injuries through focused research. It is all directed at our goal- to better the life of the Thoroughbred.”

Lael Stable encourages others to join in!   To participate in the Lael Stable TERF Challenge , and to make a tax deductible donation to TERF, you can do so by donating on-line at https://chescocf.org/fund/thoroughbred-education-and-research-foundation/ or sending a donation to TERF c/o The Chester County Community Foundation, 28 West Market Street, West Chester, PA 19382.
