Jonas C., Marian D., and Robert H. Erb Charitable Fund Announces 2023 Grantees

Robert H. Erb

(West Chester, PA – May 22, 2023): The Jonas C., Marian D., and Robert H. Erb Charitable Fund has announced its first round of grants to local nonprofits. Three local nonprofits have been selected by the Erb Charitable Fund advisors to advance literacy, library services, and other education programs:

  • One Book One Program, care of the Literacy Council of Norristown, received a $50,000 grant by the Erb Charitable Fund. The One Book One Program promotes literacy and library usage throughout Norristown. This generous grant will directly support the growth of adult education programs for residents of Norristown, greater Montgomery County, and Eastern Chester County (i.e., Phoenixville and Pottstown).
  • The Phoenixville Public Library was awarded a grant of $45,000. This grant will bring financial stability to the library, allowing more innovation and the chance to adopt research-based services to meet the ever-changing needs of the community. This grant will also support adult literacy programs held by the Phoenixville Library.
  • RSVP was awarded $45,000 to sustain literacy and math/STEM educational programs. This grant will directly support disadvantaged and at-risk students to ensure they are receiving the best educational resources possible. RSVP and their committed staff empower volunteers to improve the education and wellness of vulnerable populations in the community.

The Erb Charitable Fund was established to honor the legacy of Robert H. Erb, who worked at Montgomery County Community College as evening librarian for 45 dedicated years. He would often stay on campus after work hours to help students with their studies and encourage them to remain committed to their college endeavors.

The Erb Charitable Fund has dedicated itself to furthering education in many forms including reading, writing, and speech specifically at Montgomery County Community College or a similar credited institution in Chester, Montgomery, or Delaware counties.

“The Chester County Community Foundation is honored to hold the Erb Charitable Fund in trust,” states Jason Arbacheski, CAP, the Community Foundation’s Gift Planning & Stewardship Director. “This year’s grants will help numerous individuals of all ages, races, geographical locations, and incomes. The Community Foundation looks forward to seeing all the great work the Erb Charitable Fund does in the future.”
