THOROUGHBRED EDUCATION AND RESEARCH FOUNDATION AWARDS $15,000 TO WILSON COLLEGE
The Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) is pleased to award Wilson College $15,000 to be used for scholarships for up to five students in the 2024-25 academic year. Wilson College’s mission is to empower students through an engaged, collaborative, liberal arts education which combines the skills and focused study needed for success in work and life. Through a close, supportive community that develops the mind and character of all students, Wilson College prepares students to meet the challenges of a global society.
This year’s scholarship recipients are Jasmine Gruver ’25, Equine Studies major; Kendi Long ’26, Equine Studies major; Regina Snyder ’26, Equine Facilitated Therapeutics major; Makayla Reiter ’26, Veterinary Nursing major with a concentration in Equine Medicine; and Wynter Cooley ’25, Veterinary Nursing major with a concentration in Equine Medicine.
Since 2015, TERF has provided over $100,000 in scholarship awards to 30 students allowing them to continue their education. The majors include veterinary nursing, animal studies, equine studies and equine-facilitated therapeutics. Scholarship awards are based on student need, scholastic achievement, and equine-related aspirations. TERF awards scholarships consistent with its mission of promoting equine education and research by sponsoring scholarships in veterinary medicine and supporting organizations that are educating the public in the proper care of horses. The Board of Directors of TERF meticulously selects grant recipients in a competitive grantmaking process in the spring of each year.
TERF’s grants reflect the values set forth by founders Herb and Ellen Moelis. TERF’s current Board, includes co-Chairs Kathleen Anderson DVM, and James Orsini DVM, Lynn Cassimeris, Ph.D, Margaret H. Duprey, Gretchen and Roy Jackson, Katelyn Jackson, Ellen Moelis, Cory Moelis, Wendy Moon, Anita Motion, Scott Palmer VMD, and Josh Pons.
