2015 JORDAN AWARD LEGACY WINNERS ALICE AND ROD MOORHEAD

DSC_8918West Chester, PA – (September 29, 2015):  The Jordan Legacy Award honors a lifetime of exemplary charitable leadership that ultimately makes a real difference in improving the quality of life in Chester County. This year’s recipients epitomize the mission of the Community Foundation to make philanthropic greatness have an effective and long lasting impact on the community.

Alice & Rod Moorhead will be the recipients of the 16th annual Jordan Award. The couple’s dedication to the welfare of our communities is exemplified by their leadership, hands-on participation, and charitable support of nonprofit causes in Chester County.

While Alice gives generously to many nonprofits, her philanthropic leadership success is most evident at La Comunidad Hispana in Kennett Square. Recognizing the importance of Latinos to the economic welfare of our communities, Alice is clear that new immigrants and vulnerable families must have the resources and support they need to become strong, healthy contributing members of the community.

Rod’s philanthropic pursuits focus on a strong belief in the value of education and a pressing concern for the environment. Rod’s ongoing support and leadership as Board Chair for the Stroud Water Research Center has led to great success for the organization. He attributes his philanthropic vision to his teaching at the Taft School where the motto is: Non ut sibi ministretur sed ut minister… Not to be served, but to serve.

Rod and Alice have given so much back to the Chester County Community not only individually but together as well. Their synergy in giving is paramount. Their support and work for La Comunidad Hispana and Stroud Water Research Center is only a snippet of the support and leadership Alice and Rod have provided for nonprofits throughout Chester County.

The Chester County Community Foundation encourages the public to attend its annual meeting and awards ceremony on Monday, November 2, 2015.  The ceremony will be held at Madeleine Wing Alder Theatre on High Street & Rosedale Avenue in West Chester.  This event is free and will begin at 5:00 p.m. with a reception immediately following.  Please RSVP with the Foundation at (610)-696-8211 or via e-mail at events@chescocf.org
