February 4, 2022 The Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) is pleased to award $ 14,000 to the University Of Pennsylvania School Of Veterinary Medicine to be used to support the Opportunity Scholarship Fund for student scholarships. In the past, TERF has generously awarded grants for need-based scholarships for students interested in pursuing equine medicine. January 21, 2022 The Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) is pleased to award $4,000 to the MidAtlantic Horse Rescue (MAHR) for educational purposes. MAHR’s mission is to rescue thoroughbreds from feed lots and kill pens and transition horses directly off the track. After quarantine and careful evaluation, horses are adopted into loving homes as sport horses and pets. January 14, 2022 The Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) is pleased to award $4,000 to Horsemen U to support Horsemen U’s continuing education platform for a full year. The online platform was launched to assist trainers, assistant trainers, and others in the equine industry with continuing education requirements. The California Thoroughbred Trainers (CTT), Maryland Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (MTHA), and New York Thoroughbred Horsemen’s Association (NYTHA) teamed up to start Horsemen U because education is the best investment for improving the equine industry. The Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation (TERF) is pleased to award the Belmont Child Care Association, Inc. (BCCA) $10,000 to be used for educational purposes. The mission of BCCA is to provide a safe, supportive, and academically inspiring environment for the children of parents working in the Thoroughbred racing backstretch area located at New York’s historic Belmont Park, Aqueduct Racetrack, and Saratoga Race Course.
