Chester County Community Foundation Celebrates 25 Years of Legacy Philanthropy

(West Chester, PA – April 23, 2019): Since 1994 the Chester County Community Foundation has connected people who care with causes that matter, so their philanthropy makes a difference now and forever. Last year, the Community Foundation announced plans to recognize and celebrate its 25th anniversary through a series of initiatives throughout 2019 to Inspire, Celebrate, and Grow legacy philanthropy.

A Silver Anniversary Reception Celebration will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 3-5 p.m. at the rustic and historically accurate Abbott Barn in West Chester. Community Foundation Board Chair Anthony Morris Esq. notes, “We are especially appreciative that the Abbott family is hosting our Silver Reception. Franny Abbot’s mother, Elizabeth Ranney Moran, was a founding member of the Chester County Community Foundation. Betty is well-known for her widespread, longstanding, generous commitment to community philanthropy.  The family philanthropy legacy tradition continues.”

The Silver Anniversary Reception features musical entertainment by New Street Heat Jazz Trio, savory appetizers and creative desserts by John Serock Catering, and a celebratory cupcake creation by Cheryl’s Sweet Delights.

Wine tastings will be orchestrated by Community Foundation Board Member Michael Horak of Collier’s, featuring Chester County wines from Galer Estate of Kennett Square, Patone Cellars of Landenberg, and Stargazers Vineyard of Coatesville.

Beer tastings will be offered by East Branch Brewing, crafting beer in the heart of Downingtown ten barrels at a time.

The reception will highlight the Community Foundation’s history by recognizing its Founders, Jordan Award Honorees, Door Opener Honorees, and the 400+ family and nonprofit legacy funds entrusted to its stewardship.

The Community Foundation strengthens long-term legacy philanthropy by holding funds in trust that provide for current and perpetual community charitable needs. This enables individuals and families to support charitable causes now, as well as forever. Ever growing, currently the Community Foundation holds $60M+ in entrusted assets and annually awards $3M+ scholarships and grants.
